McGee-

"Why didn't I figure this out earlier, Timmy?!" Abby shouted as she paced back and forth past Tony and Ziva's desks. "I knew something bad would happen! I just knew it!"
"Nothing happened yet, Abbs. If anything did Gibbs would have told us." I comforted as I put my hand on her shoulder.
"How do you know that? What if he is hurt too? What if Tony, Ziva, and Gibbs are all lying on the side of the road burnt half to a crisp?" She questioned as she fell into my arms. She wasn't crying, but she sure was close too. I wrapped my arms around Abby tightly and sighed. Nothing happened. Nothing could have. I stroked her hair calmly as I tried to deal with the thought; Gibbs was smarter than that. He wouldn't wind up on some road…
"You have to have trust in me Abby." A familiar voice came from behind us. My eyes shot open and I pulled away quickly. It was Gibbs, followed by Tony and Ziva…unharmed.
"Gibbs!" Abby shouted as she ran to our boss and wrapped his arms around him. "I knew you would make it!"
I rolled my eyes before joining Tony and Ziva. "Are you guys alright?"
Tony gave me a look that said do-I-look-like-I-am-alright, but he said nothing. Ziva, on the other hand, smiled. "We are fine Tim." With that she sat down at her desk, pulled out her gun and badge, and then took off her jacket revealing her scarred body. My stomach tied in a knot at the sight-I still wasn't used to the fact even after three months.
"Any sighting of the three missing persons?" Gibbs asked after whispering something in Abby's ear and kissing her on the cheek. What had he said to her to make her calm down? I wish I knew…She never tells me what they talk about.
Oh right, the missing persons. "Uh no boss. I sent out the Bolo thirty minutes ago and there is still no sign of them."
"Well find them!" He growled urgently before rushing out of the room. "Ziva come with me." Ziva scrambled out of her chair and rushed after Gibbs. From what it looks like the two were headed to MTAC.
Before I could even speak to Tony, he took off somewhere. "Uh Tony!" I tried to call out to him, but he didn't answer. He was gonna get himself killed and we wouldn't even know it. With a sigh I turned to Abby who was giving me a sympathetic stare. "I hope Tony will be okay" She signed to me. With a nod I walked up to her and grabbed her hand. "Me too Abbs…me too."

-Abby's lab-

Minutes past before anybody came back so we decided to go back to the lab and check any possible locations. ATM and street cameras came up clean and so did all the other locations. What were they planning? How were they going to try to kill us? As if reading my mind, Abby turned towards me with a weak fake smile. "How are you coping with this?" She asked me.
How was I? "I don't know."
I heard her come up behind me before wrapping her arms around me. I took her arm and pulled it closer and looked up. "Can I come home with you tonight?" She asked.
"Of course you can Abby. You are always welcome." But there was doubt in my mind. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go home tonight. Sure, we have been put in these circumstances before but this time felt different. We knew almost NOTHING about those who were targeting us except they had everything planned out. Worst thing yet we didn't know how. "Thanks…" Abby muttered as she put her head on my shoulder. My pulse began to rise upon her doing so…she hasn't done that to me in a while. She was really worried; more than usual. Why did I have the feeling that something terrible was going to happen? Something out of the ordinary…something…terrible…. Like death terrible.
"Timmy…can I ask you something…?"
I snapped out of my trance. "Anything."
"Would you think that if we were still going out it would interfere with our work?"
What brought this on? Did I have an answer? Sure it would-that's unenviable-but how was I supposed to tell her that? "It depends. With Tony and Ziva-"
"I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about us." She interrupted.
I bit my lip before twirling in my chair to face her. For a second longer I stared into her saddened eyes. I just couldn't lie to her. "It would probably be more distracting in the lab but I guess we could-" I began. Before I could even finish Abby leaned onto me and crushed my lips, sending my heart beat skyrocketing. Everything around me…everything that happened seemed to disappear at that moment. I returned the kiss happily, not caring about how Gibbs or anyone else would react. Not even the few who were out to kill us….Just in the moment.
She pulled away with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. "I love you…"
I was frozen. Did she? I mean, how could she? Why now? "I always had. At first it was sexual then like siblings…but now I know. Now I know that you are not just a fling."
I got up out of the chair and took her hands. "Ever since the day we met I knew we weren't just a fling." With that I pulled her in closer for another kiss, breaking it off seconds later. "You have no idea how long I wanted to do that."
"I bet I do." She joked lightly before hugging me tightly. "Seeing Tony and Ziva…well…we can't let them get hurt. Promise me Timmy."
"I promise…" I answered without smiling. How could I promise such a thing? All I can do for them now is find out where they are or pull the trigger when I need to. I couldn't actually guarantee their safety even if I wanted too. Yes it made me feel useless…made me feel like I couldn't protect my team…but I could deal with it. For Abby…for everybody.
Even if I couldn't….
